Alkynes and dienes are present in the C5 fractions produced by cracking units using diesel, naphtha, or light hydrocarbons as raw materials, or in the C5 fractions produced by FCC units. In addition, it also contains monoolefins such as 2-methyl-1-butene and 2-methyl-2-butene, which can react with methanol to produce methyl tert amyl ether (TAME). The TAME catalyst is synthesized using acidic resin, while the isoprene, isoprene, cyclopentadiene, and alkynes contained in the mixed C5 raw materials are prone to polymerization on acidic resin catalysts, causing catalyst deactivation. Therefore, pretreatment of the raw materials is necessary, Remove dienes and alkynes. The C5 fraction often requires the removal of alkynes and dienes in other applications.

The method of catalytic selective hydrogenation can effectively convert dienes and alkynes into corresponding monoolefins, so that the total content of dienes and alkynes in the hydrogenation product is ≤ 300ppm. By selecting hydrogenated isoprene, it can be converted into etherified 2-methyl-1-butene and 2-methyl-2-butene, ensuring the long-term operation of the etherification catalyst, increasing the production of TAME, and eliminating the odor and color deepening of TAME products.
