Catalyst for Pre hydrogenation Treatment of Alkylation Raw Materials (C4)

Alkylation units generally use mixed C4 produced by relevant units in refineries as raw materials, which usually contain 0.1 to 1.0% of butadiene. Butadiene is a harmful impurity in the alkylation process, which can cause an increase in acid consumption, an increase in the dry point of alkylated oil, a decrease in octane number, and corrosion of weighting equipment. Therefore, it must be removed.

Catalytic selective hydrogenation is the most effective method for removing trace amounts of butadiene from alkylated raw materials. Under the action of a catalyst, the hydrogenation of H2 with butadiene to produce butene-1 can reduce the content of butadiene to ≤ 100ppm, with almost no loss or even increase of useful monoolefins. At the same time, a large amount of butene-1 isomers are converted into butene-2, which is of great significance for improving the octane number of alkylated oil.

This catalyst is suitable for the above process.

Special note: This catalyst is also suitable for the pretreatment of C4 olefin concentration raw materials. In some situations where C4 is utilized, it is necessary to remove a small amount of butadiene and concentrate the olefins. In the process of olefin concentration and separation of isobutane, due to the low relative volatility of butene-1 and isobutane, butene-1 is prone to move towards the top of the separation tower and enter the isobutane component. By selecting hydrogenation, while butadiene is hydrogenated, a large amount of isomerization of butene-1 is converted into butene-2. Due to the high boiling point of butene-2, it will be distilled from the bottom of the tower, thus improving the yield of olefins.
